One such example is the story of a dog whose not one but two ᴄʀᴜᴇʟ owners ʜᴜʀᴛ, yet still managed to rising above it all and find happiness.
A Dog Whose Two ᴄʀᴜᴇʟ Owners ʜᴜʀᴛ
Harold was born into a local puppy mill, which ᴄᴏɴꜰɪɴᴇs mother dogs in small ᴄᴀɢᴇs and raises hundreds of puppies for profit.
Puppy mill animals are at a greater ʀɪsᴋ ᴏꜰ acquiring major birth ᴘʀᴏʙʟᴇᴍs such as ʜᴇᴀʀᴛ ᴅɪsᴇᴀsᴇ, ᴋɪᴅɴᴇʏ ɪʟʟɴᴇss, ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ ᴅɪsᴇᴀsᴇs, ᴅᴇᴀꜰɴᴇss, and ʟɪꜰᴇʟᴏɴɢ ᴘᴀʀᴀʟʏsɪs due to ᴏᴠᴇʀʙʀᴇᴇᴅɪɴɢ.
Harold was sold to an unknowing bidder for $7,000 after taking a few ɪɴꜰᴀɴᴛ ʙʀᴇᴀᴛʜs. Harold was brought home by his new owner, who nursed him through an upper ʀᴇsᴘɪʀᴀᴛᴏʀʏ ɪʟʟɴᴇss.
Then, without notice, Harold ʟᴏsᴛ the ᴀʙɪʟɪᴛʏ to use his ʙᴀᴄᴋ ʟᴇɢs due to sᴘɪɴᴇ ᴄᴜʀᴠᴀᴛᴜʀᴇ ɪɴᴅᴜᴄᴇᴅ by ᴏᴠᴇʀʙʀᴇᴇᴅɪɴɢ at the puppy mill; the ᴅɪsᴇᴀsᴇ is akin to sᴄᴏʟɪᴏsɪs and ᴇʟɪᴍɪɴᴀᴛᴇs all sensation in his ʜɪɴᴅǫᴜᴀʀᴛᴇʀs.
Harold’s new owner gave him to Dallas DoggRRR, who immediately brought him to the ᴇᴍᴇʀɢᴇɴᴄʏ animal hospital.
Harold was ʜᴏsᴘɪᴛᴀʟɪᴢᴇᴅ for two days and sᴛʀᴜɢɢʟᴇᴅ to eat without ʀᴇɢᴜʀɢɪᴛᴀᴛɪɴɢ.
Hope For A Brighter Future
During an exploratory ᴏᴘᴇʀᴀᴛɪᴏɴ, doctors discovered ᴜʟᴄᴇʀᴀᴛɪᴏɴs and a sᴛʀɪᴄᴛᴜʀᴇ in Harold’s ɪɴᴛᴇsᴛɪɴᴇs, ᴀʙᴅᴏᴍɪɴᴀʟ ᴀᴅʜᴇsɪᴏɴs, ᴇɴʟᴀʀɢᴇᴅ ʟʏᴍᴘʜɴᴏɪᴅs, increased ʟɪᴠᴇʀ levels, and ɢᴀsᴛʀᴏ ꜰʟᴜɪᴅ across his ʙᴇʟʟʏ and ᴇsᴏᴘʜᴀɢᴜs.
This little boy has been a Dallas DogRRR resident for many years and is our rescue mascot and social media ambassador.
