Rare 800 Kg Fish ‘Chilshankar’ Caught In West Bengal’s Digha Coast Is Manta Ray

In recent years, there have been several tales of weird marine animals appearing in various regions of the world. Some sea slugs, some rather creepy-looking. Now, fisherman in West Bengal has discovered a gigantic fish weighing about 800 kg. According to preliminary reports, it was recognized as the ‘Chilshankar’ fish and sold for Rs 20 lakh!
According to netizens, it was a gigantic manta ray that should have been released back into the ocean because it is an endangered species. Images of the massive fish went viral earlier this week.

Fishermen discovered the fish on July 27 near the West Bengal coastal town of Digha. The enormous fish looks like a stingray but is claimed to be one of the most popular delicacies in the area. The fisherman undoubtedly struck gold with this harvest, which brought in roughly Rs 2 lakh! Because of its weight, getting the fish out of the water and onto the land proved difficult. According to ANI, the fish weighed 600 kgs and was sold for Rs 50,000. Many people remarked on the post saying it looked like a manta ray.
