Litter Crews with the Indiana Department of Transportation were cleaning an Indiana highway when they made a surprising, but adorable discovery.
As members were picking up trash, they stumbled upon a tiny puppy who was all alone on the side of the road.
“The angels who found him and rescued him are angels.” He was assigned the name Kei, and despite his basic health, the most difficult challenge he had to face was regaining his faith in humans.
It’s reassuring to know that the puppy received all of the help he needed after coping with such a traumatic past.
“Whoever adopts Kei will be taking on a canine who will need to recover both physically and mentally. One of the rescuers said, “It’s a big commitment.”
As of now, it’s unknown if Kei belonged to someone and was dumped, or if it was born a stray. Thankfully, he is now safe and out of harm’s way, since he wouldn’t have survived much longer on the side of the road without food or water.
Indiana Department of Transportation shared the photos on their Facebook page and said that one of the crew members took the puppy home and would get him scanned for a microchip as soon as possible.
If the pup does not have a microchip and an owner isn’t found, Kei will either be up for adoption or will be adopted by one of the crew members!
