We’re in the middle of winter, and the freezing weather can be a ᴅᴀɴɢᴇʀ to our pets. A dog accidentally falls through the ice and gets trapped in the frigid water. Fortunately, we are having people who are ready to help whenever required.
According to Syracuse.com, the dog became ᴛʀᴀᴘᴘᴇᴅ on the frozen Seneca River in Lysander, New York, after chasing geese onto the ice.
The dog was sᴛᴜᴄᴋ there when its leash got caught in the ice. The dog was unable to get back to the land and it was helpless with ice all around it. The dog was in grave dangᴇʀ as it may get frostbite or something serious may happen to it.
Local sheriff’s deputies and firefighters responded to the call about the stranded dog. After arriving, a rescue crew from the Plainville Fire Department used specialized ice rescue equipment provided by the Jordan Fire Department to save the pooch.
Firefighters wearing ice rescue suits crawled out onto the ice until they reached the pet, at which point they freed the dog’s .l.eash and slowly led the pup back to land.
After crawling out to get the dog, the firefighters brought the Shih Tzu to safety. There was reportedly an ambulance waiting nearby, and it seems like this dog is going to be okay.
“Great job rescuers!! Man or beast (doggie) doesn’t matter to you!!” one commenter wrote. “Thank you to everyone who helped save this little dog! That is no easy task,” another added.
