These gentle little fellas (who are the world’s biggest rodents) are known as capybaras, and they get along with almost every other animal species. Humans are included.
Why is this so? It surely has nothing to do with the fact that they consume their own excrement. No, it’s most likely due to their amazing inner calm.
Indeed, photographic and video proof of the capybara’s benevolence toward other animals is more than persuasive.
All domestic and wild animals (even crocodiles!) appear to be enjoying the company of this amiable critter that resembles a rat-pig hybrid. But what exactly is their secret?
These adorable critters are native to South America and are incredibly gregarious, frequently establishing groups of 10-20 individuals who live together. They’re also fairly large!
They are the world’s biggest rodents, reaching lengths of up to 134cm (4 foot 434 inches) and weighing up to 66kg (145 lb).
Capybaras, on the other hand, are semi-aquatic animals that prefer to dwell near sources of water.
They are expert swimmers who can stay submerged for up to 5 minutes to evade predators. They even mate solely in water.
But there are just educated assumptions as to why everyone adores them. Nonetheless, there is plenty of proof.
Check it out for yourself. Did you know that capybaras are also quite excellent at crossing busy roadways together?
What are your thoughts? Are there any other animal companions who can compete with capybaras in terms of cuteness?
