20-Year-Old Cat To Shelter Gets Adopted By 101-Year-Old Lady

For many, pets are essential to their lives, providing unconditional love and support. Unfortunately, not all pets are lucky enough to have a forever home. This was the case for a 20-year-old cat gets adopted by a 101-year-old lady. But what happened next was nothing short of a miracle.

Despite his age, the cat was in good health and spirits. However, his chances of being adopted were slim. Many people hesitate to adopt senior pets, assuming they’ll require more care and attention than younger animals. But cat luck was about to change.

Gus, The Cat, Is 20 Years Old

Once at the shelter, Gus was given a health screening that showed he was “Exceptional Healthy”— for a 20-year-old cat!

But they knew that spending his golden years in a shelter environment ᴡᴏᴜʟᴅ ᴛᴀᴋᴇ a ᴛᴏʟʟ on the well-being of a cat his age.

Shortly after Gus’s arrival, the shelter director received an unexpected call from a family looking for a pet who could be a companion for their ᴀɢɪɴɢ mother.

More specifically, they asked if there was a sᴇɴɪᴏʀ cat they could adopt.

The family explained that their 101-year-old mother, Penny, had recently ʟᴏsᴛ her cat, and though they’d given her a stuffed cat to cuddle with instead she wasn’t pleased with something that didn’t ᴘᴜʀʀ.

Bless you, grandma, for caring for this precious cat. Staff was ᴄᴀᴜᴛɪᴏᴜs because of the age of all parties, but the family said they were willing to care for the cat on behalf of their mother.

It was “A Match Made In Heaven,” and the adoption was quickly finalized. This duo was meant to be, and Gus fits right in at his new home.

This sweet Lady lived that long to find this baby and give her smothering love for the ᴇɴᴅ of their ʟɪᴠᴇs. How selfless and beautiful they are.

The way life should be. Seniors often get lonely but have so much love to give still. A Pet helps so much.

We’re so glad this Lady got that senior cat, she truly loves him, and he deserves to be loved.
